Is real, genuine, and affordable health care reform possible? With common sense and the American citizens will it is. Today, during his town hall, John McCain outlined what many other conservatives have proposed to fix our "health care problem" in this country. These include:
- Insurance reform to get those with preexisting conditions
- Reform Medical malpractice
- Tax reforms and incentives to purchase insurance.
- To me, this is the best and most important change we could make. Included in this would be the ability for customers to purchase health insurance over state lines just like we do with car and home owners insurance. This one thing alone would drive down cost because of the increased competition.
- Wellness and safety (uses Safeway as an example)/reward people for good practice
- This idea has possibilities. If the "rewards" are in the form of tax breaks I would accept it. Another possibility for this could be the development of a system similar to how car insurance companies give good driver discounts to drivers to have avoided accidents and/or tickets. This would be the best option in my opinion. However, the next issue would be how is this measred?
